Acknowledgement of Country:

As we gather to clean up our local area, it is important to acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to their elders, both past and present, and express our deep gratitude for their ongoing care, custodianship, and connection to this land, waterways, and ecosystems.

The work we do here is rooted in the values of respect and responsibility, recognizing that the land upon which we live and gather has been cared for by the Gadigal People for thousands of years. Their devotion to this land has allowed us to enjoy its beauty and power today.

The trees, the soil, the waterways—they have stories. If we are quiet enough, we may hear them.

Why This Matters:

Our work at Your Laundry Room is deeply dedicated to the care of this land—not just because it is our home, but because we understand that we have a responsibility to it. The Earth provides us with what we need: the resources to wash, the space to gather, and the beauty to appreciate. But it also relies on us to protect and preserve it.

Through our Community Clean-Up, we aim to cultivate a stronger sense of environmental responsibility within the community and engage in meaningful actions that will have a lasting impact on the health of our local environment. By collecting trash and recycling responsibly, we contribute to keeping our surroundings clean and nurturing the land that sustains us.

This is not just about picking up litter—it’s about honoring the relationship we have with our environment, and with each other. It's about becoming true custodians of the land, as the Gadigal People have always been, and ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the natural beauty and abundance that we are so fortunate to have.

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for walking and picking up trash

  • Gloves (optional, but encouraged)

  • A sense of community spirit and care for the environment!

We look forward to seeing you there!

This is a chance to do something meaningful together while showing respect for the land that supports us all.
