Emergency Preparedness Plan

At Your Laundry Room, we prioritise the safety and well-being of our customers, employees, and community members. Our commitment to mindfulness, compassion, unity, service, integrity, innovation, sustainability, and technology extends to our emergency preparedness efforts. This plan outlines the procedure and protocols to be followed in the event of an emergency, ensuring a swift and coordinated response to protect lives and minimize disruption to our operations.

Risk Assessment and Prevention

Identify Potential Hazards

Regularly assess our premises and operations to identify potential emergency risks, including but not limited to fire, floods, power outages, and natural disasters.

Preventive Measures

Implement measures to mitigate identified risks, such as installing fire suppression systems, maintaining emergency exits, and providing staff training on emergency procedures.

Emergency Response Team

Formation

Designate and train an emergency response team of knowledgeable and responsible individuals from various departments within our organisation.

Roles and Responsibilities

Clearly define the roles and responsibilities of each team member, including communication protocols, evacuation procedures, and emergency equipment handling.

Communication Plan

Internal Communication

Establish clear communication channels among staff members to disseminate emergency alerts, instructions, and updates.

External Communication

Maintain contact information for relevant external entities, such as emergency services, utility providers, and local authorities, to facilitate timely communication and coordination during emergencies.

Emergency Procedures

Fire Safety

In the event of a fire, activate the fire alarm, evacuate all occupants following predetermined escape routes, and use fire extinguishers if safe to do so. Close doors behind you to prevent the spread of smoke and flames.

Medical Emergencies

Provide first aid assistance to injured individuals and seek medical help as necessary. Designated specific staff members trained in COR and basic first aid to respond to medical emergencies

Natural Disaster

Follow established protocols for sheltering in place and evacuating the premises based on the type and severity of the natural disaster (e.g. earthquakes, hurricanes, floods)

Power Outages

Implement backup power sources, such as generators to ensure continuity of essential operations during power outages. Safely shut down equipment and machinery to prevent damage or injury.

Evacuation Procedures

Evacuation Routes

Mark primary and secondary evacuation routes throughout our facilities, considering accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

Assembly Points

Designate predetermined assembly points outside our premises where staff and customers should gather following evacuation.

Head Count

Conduct head counts at assembly points to account for all individuals and report any missing persons to emergency responders.

Training and Drills

Regular Training

Provide comprehensive training to all employees on emergency procedures, including evacuation protocols, first aid techniques, and the proper use of emergency equipment.

Drills

Conduct regular emergency drills and simulations to test the effectiveness of our emergency preparedness plan and familiarise staff with their roles and responsibilities during emergencies.

Recovery and Continuity

Assessment

Assess the extent of damage and disruption caused by the emergency once it has been resolved, and prioritize recovery efforts accordingly.

Business Continuity

Develop strategies and contingency plans to resume operations as quickly as possible following an emergency, including backup systems, alternative suppliers, and temporary facilities if necessary.

Community Support

Offer support and assistance to our community members affected by the emergency, demonstrating our commitment to unity, compassion, and service.

Review and Improvement

Ongoing Evaluation

Continuously evaluate and update our emergency preparedness plan based on feedback, lessons learned from drills and real emergencies, and changes in our operations or environment.

Collaboration

Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including local authorities, emergency services, and neighboring businesses, to enhance collective emergency preparedness and response efforts in our community.
